Unshakeable
It took the doctors 18 years to finally figure out that I had Parkinson's Disease, although, to be fair, I'd suspected all along that something wasn't quite right. After living with a debilitating tremor since my early twenties in 2007 I was finally given the diagnosis and medication that brought it under control - well, as under control as it gets!
Overjoyed by a miracle I'd never thought possible I didn't suspect that this was going to be the beginning of a strange journey of self discovery as I slowly came to realize what the tremor had meant to me and began to ask what getting back to "normal" really means. For me, so far, that journey has included two Edinburgh Fringe one man shows, sailing tall ships, playing pirates with real cannons (but no cannon balls!), learning to sword fight and indoor climbing! It's been quite a ride, but it is far from over!
I hope you'll come along.
